Elaine Johnson is a retired teacher who has painted a “little” for a “long” time. Even though she received her education at a time when impressionism was prevalent, the beauty in her world not only had color and forms, but also details. The artwork that really motivated and inspired her captured the “essence” of the scene, as well as the particular features of each subject.
Living in rural Colorado and being married to an avid hunter/outdoorsman presented many opportunities to mentally record and take pictures of spectacular views, quiet close-ups, and sometimes, wildlife itself. Consequently, for 20 years the favorite family recreation was to pack three girls, the dog, the camera and lunch into a “trusty” old jeep and spend the day or weekend exploring and savoring the natural wonders of Colorado.
Each of these outings helped develop a desire to capture at least some of the beauty of nature on canvas. Finally, retirement now provides the time and place to spend more energy on creating images to share.
